Lima, Peru – Four years ago, through Citi Foundation, Citibank Peru decided to include Buena Esperanza School among its social assistance programs through the "Adopt a School" program. The objective of this institution is to contribute toward education through improvements in the infrastructure of this school, which is responsible for the education of 130 children between the ages of three and nine in the district of Villa El Salvador.

As a result, on April 10, two new classrooms and a play area were inaugurated at the school. These new additions now join other buildings constructed in previous years.

Support for education is part of Cit's commitment to the development of the communities where it operates, and that is why, through Citi Foundation, the bank reaffirms its commitment to education in Peru. "We believe that children should have access to quality education and a good career in the future," said Mónica Perales, the bank's vice president of Public Relations and Human Resources.

"The support we have received from Citi over the years has been fundamental in the growth of the school," said Patricia de Bary, Buena Esperanza School representative

The Buena Esperanza School is a non-profit organization which provides a service to indigent Peruvian children from the Villa El Salvador district. It aims to provide them with a solid personal, social and academic formation through modern teaching techniques designed to give students a well-rounded education. The school also concentrates on other important aspects which complement the children's education, such as nutrition, physical and emotional health, and employment for parents.
