Citi & Junior Achievement Benefit 706 Students in Quito

Quito, Ecuador – Thanks to Citi Foundation's contribution of US$10,000 in benefit of Junior Achievement, the first stage of the project "To be Successful These Days you have to Start Young," was launched in Quito during March.

The main goal of this program is to promote the development of competences, abilities and strengths in children, by motivating their leadership capacity and decision making skills. The objective is to provide them with equal opportunities and a better quality of life.

The first stage is taking place at the schools: "Escuela Fiscal Mixta Numa Pompilio Llona" and "12 de Octubre," and will benefit 706 students from grades fourth, fifth and sixth.

The project will conclude with a second stage to be developed in May in the city of Guayaquil. With this second stage, a total of 900 students will benefit through 2008.

This project is possible thanks to Citi's economic contribution and committed volunteers. The program counts with 23 Citi executives who dedicate their time to teach the educational programs and to share their knowledge with the students.

Citi, a company with a high sense of social responsibility, has supported Junior Achievement for seven consecutive years. During this time, more than 10,000 students of Ecuador have benefited with the foundation's educational programs.
