Citi Reinforces Support to Portuguese Entrepreneurship, Launches New "Banks in Action" Program

Lisbon – Citi Portugal has introduced "Banks in Action," a new program to support national entrepreneurship. This program exclusively launched by Citi was developed and implemented in partnership with Associação Aprender a Empreender, a part of Junior Achievement Young Enterprise in Portugal.

Addressed to high school students, the "Banks in Action" program has the main goal to provide these students with the principles of the banking industry, and introduce them to the challenges of a successful bank management strategy in a competitive environment. Additionally, "Banks in Action" encourages these young people to become better citizens and smarter consumers. According to Paulo Gray Pereira, Citi Country Officer in Portugal, "The ‘Banks in Action' program represents a major step in the support that Citi is trying to provide to national entrepreneurship and to those that should be the smarter consumers and successful managers of the future. We are proud to implement this Junior Achievement program."

The main concepts promoted by the "Banks in Action" program, built around eight classroom sessions include the daily work of a bank; banking products and services; banking careers; and team work.

"Banks in Action" program starts this week and will rely on ten volunteers of Citi Portugal present in three schools during the pilot project, in the Lisbon area, including the Instituto de Formação Bancária (Portuguese Bank Training Institute).
