Citi Leads in Climate Disclosure

Ranked #1 Among Banks in Survey of FT 500 by the Carbon Disclosure Project

New York, New York – Citi was honored recently as best in class among global banks for its climate change disclosure in a report by the Carbon Disclosure Project, a coalition of 315 global investors with more than $41 trillion in assets.

The report was based on a survey of FT 500 companies. Citi was ranked the leader among banks and was among 68 companies selected for the Climate Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI), an index based on disclosure of risks and opportunities of climate change and the quality and effectiveness of programs to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

"Citi has set itself apart from its peers by disclosing the information required by investors to judge its readiness for the challenges and opportunities posed by climate change," said CDP Chief Executive, Paul Dickinson.

"We have long had a serious commitment to addressing environmental issues in general and climate change specifically, in our business practices. We also believe strongly in disclosure and transparency with our stakeholders and are pleased to be recognized for our efforts by the Carbon Disclosure Project," said Pamela P. Flaherty, Director Corporate Citizenship and President and Chief Executive Officer, Citi Foundation.

The Climate Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI) is produced by report writers Innovest. It comprises 68 FT500 companies that show distinction in their responses to the Carbon Disclosure Project survey based on their reporting of greenhouse gas emissions and assessment of Citi's climate change strategies.

All companies in the FT500 sample were assessed relative to their peers to provide an evaluation for investors, through the CDLI on which companies have developed the most comprehensive climate change disclosure practices. Innovest rank companies on a 100 point scale and all companies which achieved a score of 85 or over are featured in the CDLI. More information on the CDLI can be found at the CDP website: www.cdproject.net.

Climate Disclosure Leadership Index members were distinguished by the disclosure of their awareness of the risks and opportunities of climate change, as well as the quality and effectiveness of programs put in place to reduce overall greenhouse gas emissions.
