Citi Supports the Jordan River Foundation
Awards US$25,000 Grant to Support Handicraft Sector in Jordan
Amman – Citi Jordan and Jordan River Foundation's (JRF) recently signed an agreement in support of "Financial Management for Handicraft Sector” training implemented by JRF.
According to the grant agreement, Citi Foundation awards USD 25,000 to JRF to carry out “Financial Management for Handicraft Sector” training in 2007.
JRF's Capacity Building and Business Development Services unit (CBBDS) will work on improving the skills of handcrafters who have their own businesses, whether start-ups, or potential business owners, to increase the viability of their enterprises through the application of sound financial management and product development.
The project will be implemented for a period of over a year for three groups of 15 participants each, to enhance the ability of handcrafters to financially manage their businesses and market their products, in addition to expanding the business according to market needs. The topics at the training will include financial management training, designing and packaging concepts, and introduction to IT.
Acting Director General, Valentina Qussisiya stated that the work of JRF has always encouraged traditional handicrafts production and marketing because it is a valuable economic source of income in addition to its traditional significance.

JRF's CBBDS unit was established in 1999 to provide training and consultation services to different individuals, cooperatives and organizations. This unit is also part of the services established to support JRF’s main programs.
The Jordan River Foundation, founded in 1995 and chaired by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah, is a non-profit, non-governmental organization (NGO) that initiates and supports sustainable social, economic and cultural programs that empower communities and individuals.
