U.S.: National Financial Literacy Month

U.S.: National Financial Literacy Month April 2010 has been proclaimed National Financial Literacy Month by President Barack Obama, calling upon all Americans to observe this month with programs and activities to improve their understanding of financial principles and practices. "Our Nation's future prosperity depends on the financial security of all Americans. This month, let us each take time to improve our own financial knowledge and share that knowledge with our children. Together, we can prevent another crisis and rebuild our economy on a stronger, more balanced foundation," stated Obama. For more information, visit www.mymoney.gov or call toll free 1-888-MyMoney.

To support these efforts, Citi volunteers across the US, Puerto Rico, and Guam will participate in Teach Children to Save Day in partnership with the American Bankers Association Education Foundation on April 27, 2010. This will be Citi's 11th year participating in this national campaign that raises awareness about the important role that banks and bankers play in helping young people develop lifelong savings habits.

The campaign has reached 3.4 million young people with the help of some 80,000 banker volunteers through its annual awareness day and the Teach Children to Save Web site: www.teachchildrentosave.com. It's an opportunity to bring a clear and thorough understanding of the basic concepts of how to save money.

Since 2000, more than 3,500 Citi Volunteers have taught basic money skills to over 105,000 students across the country.
